#MusicalMemories: Roni

Devon’s Roni took a break from music to focus on motherhood and now returns with the hauntingly beautiful Baby Bird, a song which Eva Cassidy, Celine Dion or even Bonnie Raitt could have easily recorded. But in her own voice it has even greater depth of meaning and will have your spine all tingly. It really is a magical listening experience. Blown away by what we have heard, we touched base with Roni to take on a trip down memory lane.

What song reminds you most of your childhood?

The song that reminds me most of childhood would probably be loving you by Elvis… my mum was a massive fan too and we heard it all the time.

Which song inspired you to become a musician/singer?

No one song inspired me to become a singer, I have been singing ever since I can remember, on stage at three! I never chose it I was born this way!

Which song do you wish you had written?

The song I wish I had written, well there are a few but I would have to say Beauty and the Beast by Stevie Nicks… an incredibly beautiful and haunting song.

Which artist/band has been the most inspirational to you?

The artists that are most influential, well Elvis kind of taught me to sing, I also heard a lot of Tammy Wynette etc when I was very young but also I love rock music…. In my teens I discovered Stevie Nicks and I love the way she writes so unashamedly straight from the heart.

Which song/album currently dominates your attention?

The song that currently dominates my attention (apart from my new single which comes out on 29th July) would probably be Chris Stapleton’s Sometimes I Cry.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

I would most like to collaborate with…. Chris Stapleton!!
