Secret Love’ staring Claudia Morris

Secret Love staring Claudia Morris is a Heart Warming Heart Breaking New Musical Play which is set to tour the UK this Autumn, celebrating the life and music of the legendary Doris Day.

With a truly extraordinary career that spanned the golden age of Hollywood, glitz and glorious big band music, Doris Day left a legacy that still lives on today. The word ‘legend’ is an overused one in the modern vernacular, but this extraordinary performer truly earned her place in history over the course of a glittering career.

But away from the spotlight, Doris Day lived an equally intriguing life, taking in personal tragedy, financial difficulties and the drive to campaign for animal rights long before it was fashionable.

It’s a challenge for any performer, stepping into the shoes of such a celebrated figure, but this autumn acclaimed West End performer Claudia Morris will do just that. Taking her spectacular show around the UK, Claudia will perform classic songs and tell the tale of a woman who has inspired her for many years. Taking in both the highs and lows of a life in the limelight, ‘Secret Love’ is a portrait of a great artist, as told by one of her most dedicated fans, backed by her full live band and two male actors who will play all the key men in Doris’ life. Created with pianist and musical director Malcolm Edmonstone and writer/director Phil Wilmott, it promises to be a knockout return to the stage for these much loved songs.

In addition, to accompany the show, a collection of the top tracks from the production have also been captured in the studio to be released as an album. The ‘Secret Love’ LP – a further tribute to the life and talent of Doris Day – will be available in September

A stellar performer in her own right, Claudia Morris has seen her own career go from strength to strength since taking a break to raise her family. In her early career, Claudia took to the stage in shows such as ‘Camelot’ at The Liverpool Playhouse, ‘Guys ‘n Dolls’ at the Cheltenham Everyman Theatre, and was in the original cast of ‘Buddy’ in the West End at the Victoria Palace Theatre.

She returned in 2009 with her debut album ‘Love And Demons’, before exploring her love of jazz with her 2nd album ‘Twelve O’Clock Tales’ in 2012:

“The first class musicianship and arrangements onTwelve O’clock Tales surround Claudia’s voice, but allow the high polish of her voice to shine through. Claudia is an exciting and rising star to watch.”

Nigel Williams, Jazz FM

“If this is a return album for the vocal talents of Ms Morris (whose own natural slant on ‘scat’ stands comparison with the incredible skills of Ella Fitzgerald), then I urge her management team to get its spurs on and exercise her talents in other fields. Her voice is beguiling and charming…”

Ian Robertson, Reviewed Online – The UKs No. 1 Review website

“Passion and clarity delivered with a velvet voice, Claudia lights any stage”

Sue Marchant, BBC Radio

This acclaim gave Claudia Morris the confidence and opportunity to create her very own passion project – the 21 date tour around the UK of ‘Secret Love’ promoted by Tony Clayman.
