Join us on a journey to York for your next top post on the ‘gram
Once you pass your all-important driving test, you will have acquired a newfound sense of freedom that you’ve never had before. But, like we’re sure you’ve heard before, with great power comes great responsibility! And, what do we think you should do with this new power? Well, update your Instagram feed of course!
Prepare yourself for a new adventure as you hit the roads of York, ready to discover something new! York is a place that is known for its scenic views and rich historical background, but there are a whole host of other hot spots within the city that are just waiting to take centre stage as your next most-liked post! Read on to find out more.
Botanic
If you fancy yourself as a green-fingered member of the ‘gram, then this quaint little flower shop on the streets of York could just be your dream destination! Whip out the satnav and punch in YO1 9TX, which will lead you all the way to your floral heaven. And, just a minute’s walk away from your desired destination, you’ll find Piccadilly Car Park, the perfect place to leave your wheels, for just £1 an hour! As it stands, this botanical hub has limited opening hours – Wednesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm, with the occasional Sunday afternoon – to keep everyone safe during these uncertain times.
Come armed with your trusty smart phone when you step through the doors of Botanic. Find yourself the brightest corner of green foliage and get snapping – who doesn’t like a selfie that is being shared by nature? Alternatively, pick up and choose your next plant child, and gain a wealth of knowledge from the shop’s staff, before having a photoshoot with the new member of your family.

Bettys
For anyone who likes a sweet treat, or a bite to eat, Bettys is where you and your Instagram feed will find happiness in York. As you set off on your journey, enter YO1 8QP into your navigation device and it’ll lead the way to your new favourite spot for an afternoon tea. With parking at the aforementioned Piccadilly Car park just a reasonable eight-minute walk away, Bettys will be an absolute treat to visit in your new motor.
Get ready to strike jealousy into the hearts of all your followers as you settle down for a sophisticated afternoon tea at one of Bettys’ tables. Make sure you get a wide shot of the table as your tea is brought out, including: a wide selection of sandwiches such as cucumber, dill and cream cheese, and coronation Yorkshire chicken; the obligatory classic sultana scone with accompanying strawberry preserve and clotted cream; a miniature cake selection and, of course, a pot of their very own Tea Room Blend tea. High-class afternoon tea? £19.95. Cute shots of you stuffing your face with tiny cakes? Priceless.

Turkish Baths: Harrogate
Situated on the outskirts of the Yorkshire Dales, we’d still like to consider this hot spot a part of our whistle-stop tour of York’s most Instagram-able locations! Just 18 miles from our main point, with a relatively quick trip down the A59, you’ll be set for a bit of complete rest and relaxation when you visit the Turkish Baths by popping HG1 2WH into your satnav. Not to mention the cute selfies you’ll take in those big, fluffy, oversized robes. Relaxation and new followers? What’s not to love!
In terms of finding somewhere to leave your car, you’ll be met with a few options. If you’re feeling a little risqué, then you could try street parking on the roads directly surrounding the Baths, which offer a mixture of pay and display and disc parking – the latter being available from most retailers as well as the Tourist Information Centre in the main town. Alternatively, you can choose to leave your vehicle at the Jubilee long stay location, just a short five-minute walk from the Turkish Baths, with a fixed price of £1.40 an hour! Whatever you choose, be sure to book yourself in for a luxurious and relaxing back massage or a deep facial exfoliation – anything to make you look fresh for your next upload!

Daisy Duke’s Drive-in: York Racecourse
What better way to utilise your new set of wheels than a drive-in movie, and a couple of nice shots to commemorate! Sound like a fun day out to you? Simply tap YO23 1EX into your navigation device and be on your way to the converted racecourse! Check online to see what films are being shown next, and book your tickets, before loading up your boot with popcorn and snacks galore! Line up your favourites and get a picture of your dashboard, the big screen in front of it, to show your followers exactly what they’re missing!
Coming up this month, Daisy Duke is hosting a selection of Halloween-themed nights that’ll include several spooky surprises. Showing films such as The Dark Knight, Shaun of the Dead and The Exorcist, it’s the perfect chance to pull on a pair of cat ears and draw on a couple of whiskers, to join in with the ghoulish festivities.
